To calculate precise production costs, exact processing times per machine and component were missing. In a time-limited project, AWS-based shopfloor connectivity for a selected manufacturing area was implemented together with Zoi. Objective: Standardized data collection and real-time analysis as foundation for cost optimization.
The architecture was deliberately developed as a scalable template to enable future facilities to be connected quickly and consistently – independent of machine type or existing systems.
Processing times per component and machine are traceable.
Uniform data structures for future rollouts.
Project completion within a few months.
Together with Zoi, we built an AWS architecture for a sub-area in a short time that creates full transparency and serves as a template for additional facilities.
Lack of transparency and heterogeneous systems prevented precise cost calculation. Different SCADA environments and machines without PLC required retrofit concepts.
SOLUTION
– AWS Landing Zone as foundation for security and scalability.
– Two connectivity paths:
1. SCADA integration for facilities with centralized data collection.
2. IoT Edge Gateways for facilities without SCADA.
– Uniform data flows into AWS IoT Core, real-time analysis with Kinesis and OpenSearch, storage in DynamoDB and S3.
